This math is about transformations and the requirements were to create an A3 sized poster about the different types of transformations, how to do them, how to spot them and all other information. It took me one day to complete this project as it was really easy and transformations are one of my strengths. It was a single project. I learnt that math is everywhere, even in Islamic Art, because they use all 4 types of transformations to create a beautiful piece of work.
This piece of work was significant for me because I like creating artistic posters and usually in mathematics, we are only allowed to write down equations and stuff like that, so it was a nice change. It was a piece of work I am proud of because I designed it and I used my best handwriting and I feel that I communicated the language in a pretty format. In this assessment, I received a full mark 8/8 which I am extremely proud of. It is something developmental that helped me reach a new high level in this subject, because for the final mark in the term I got 28 out of 28, so if I didn't try my best in this project then I couldn't have reached this mark. So, I have chosen this specific work for my portfolio because I got a full mark and it was the first math poster that I have done on a topic that I fully understand.
Doing this work has improved me as a learner in the MYP program because now, I understand how to use my knowledge, understanding and skills and transfer it onto paper so that other people can understand it through a different way of working. It also improved me as a learner in the MYP program because I use more key terms compared to last year which allowed me to receive a high mark. It helped me organize my time and work efficiently as I completed the entire project in one day. It also demonstrated that I am capable of doing mathematics, so that now I have a lot more confidence in my work. With my new knowledge and skills I have gained from this work, I will use it in all subjects in and outside of school. This project moved me in the path of life because I learnt that if I understand something, I can do anything, like complete an assessment in one day.
